The officers of the Fuorigrotta Highway Police met with the students of the Classical and Human Sciences High School “F. Durante” of Frattamaggiore to discuss road safety in relation to the themes of the “Icaro 23” project.
The Icaro project, now in its 23rd edition, is aimed at middle and high school students, to spread, through programs differentiated according to the age group of the students, the importance of respecting the rules relating to road safety.
For the current year, the Highway Police has set itself the goal, at a national level, of carrying out an intervention aimed at creating a training path that allows students to focus on the topic of responsibility on the road, with a focus on the ability to anticipate risks and the possible consequences of not assuming such responsibilities.
The State Police transmitted the topics covered to 56 students with the aim of emotionally involving young people in an attempt to change those ideas and behaviors that too often put them at risk on the streets.
The initiative was concentrated in two days during which numerous videos related to issues connected to road accidents were also shown and commented on.
Meeting and dialogue with young people thus become a fundamental tool for prevention, considering that, in order to raise the level of safety on the roads, a cultural change is needed, also promoted through communication.
Many questions were asked by the students to the police officers, a sign of a high interest in the topic of road safety that, if adequately nourished and satisfied, could certainly contribute to the reduction of road accidents that, unfortunately, still cause victims and injuries every day.
