A judicial investigation, supported by specialized technicians, will clarify the cause of the accident involving a tourist bus that fell from a hairpin bend on the road leading to Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, falling at least ten meters, killing the driver, 29-year-old Nicola Fusco from Agerola, son of the owner of the transport company.
At approximately 12:20 PM today, the Maiori Fire Brigade team responded to State Road 373 to assist a bus that had left the road and fallen. Upon arrival, firefighters found that a private 32-passenger shuttle bus, traveling along the state road from Ravello toward State Road 163, had left the road on a hairpin bend and crashed into a street below called "Via Valle del Dragone ," near a private residence.
The bus's sole occupant was the driver, Nicola Fusco (born in Pompeii, in the province of Naples, 29), who was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Maiori fire department's five-man detachment team , the headquarters' crane truck with two units, the duty officer, and two other units responded to the scene, for a total of nine firefighters.
