In the municipalities of Ischia and Forio the Carabinieri of the local company carried out a night service at large, combing the main roads to control the nightlife in tourist resorts and to combat drunk driving. During the operations, a 52-year-old local man was reported.
The man, under the influence of alcohol, riding his scooter in via Mazzella allegedly caused a road accident with injuries. The blood alcohol level of the man – examined at the Rizzoli hospital in Lacco Ameno – was 1,60 G/L. The scooter and license were confiscated.
Same fate for a 34-year-old from Forio found driving a Smart. The woman tested positive for alcohol and her license was revoked. Another check and another report. This time it was an 18-year-old from Casamicciola. The Carabinieri noticed the young man on board a VW Golf while he was zigzagging along Via Provinciale Lacco. The 18-year-old failed the breathalyzer test and his license was revoked.
The last person reported for driving under the influence of alcohol was a 28-year-old from Ischia stopped on a scooter, also in via Provinciale Lacco. His license was also withdrawn. Throughout the night the Carabinieri identified 75 people and checked 32 vehicles with 6 traffic sanctions. The services will continue in the coming days.
