A memorandum of understanding to implement collaboration and guarantee a safeguard of legality and transparency for public interests - in relation to the provision of funding and contributions envisaged following the landslide of last November 26 - was signed this morning between the Guardia di Finanza of Naples and the extraordinary commissioner for the post-landslide emergency of Ischia.
The agreement, signed by Commissioner Giovanni Legnini and the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza Brigadier General Paolo Borrelli, was created to ensure legality and transparency in the funding granted to the island municipalities for reconstruction.
The extraordinary commissioner will share with the Guardia di Finanza data, information, qualified news, fraud risk assessments and context analyses useful for the prevention and repression of irregularities, fraud and abuse.
“After the tragic events of November 26, today the priority is to ensure full transparency and correctness in the disbursement of contributions made to the affected population.
The memorandum of understanding signed today - declared General Borrelli - goes precisely in this direction, setting the objective of ensuring an information flow between the commissioner structure and the Guardia di Finanza that allows the Corps to have data, information and risk alerts useful for control purposes.
Our activity will be aimed, in agreement with the Commissioner delegate whom I thank, at strengthening the protections of legality, starting from the ex post verification of the correct entitlement to contributions for autonomous accommodation, hotel assistance and support for the social and economic fabric. This with a view to verifying that the sums have actually been allocated to those entitled to them”.
