Once again Positano chooses to focus on culture to experience a new summer that promises to be a record-breaking one in terms of attendance.
In its third edition, the “Vicoli in Arte” festival is back, having already hosted major events during the Christmas period, with concerts and events in the streets of the “vertical city”, the undisputed pearl of the Amalfi Coast and a world heritage site. Strongly desired by the mayor, Giuseppe Guida, who since his inauguration has shown great attention to expanding the offer in the area, the festival was born from an idea by Giulia Talamo, who takes care of the artistic direction and organization.
Also this year the technical direction has been entrusted to Ario Avecone, author and theater director. The program of events will be inaugurated by the “Gran Galà” tomorrow, Saturday May 27, starting at 20.30:XNUMX pm, in the splendid setting of Piazza Flavio Gioia, right in front of the majestic Church dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. A breathtaking panorama for a musical salon that will see a succession of many meetings over the summer months, with many prestigious guests. The variety of genres will range from pop to jazz, from popular music to musicals, up to opera.
And it is precisely with the great interpreters of the musical, protagonists on stages throughout Italy in the most important tours, that the festival will open its doors. A great live band will accompany the scratchy voice of Giorgio Adamo, protagonist among other things of “Jesus Christ Superstar” with Ted Neeley, “We Will Rock You” by Queen alongside Anastasia and, last but not least, the first actor of the cast of “Vlad Dracula”, who will be joined by Ario Avecone and Luca Notari. An evocative and exciting evening where the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate, among the many attractions, also the choreographic skills of the dancers led by Domenico Pisapia, as well as witnessing the faithful reconstruction of a medieval sword fight, directed by maestro Jacopo Siccardi.
Positano thus confirms itself as a leader in culture and programming related to the arts, as demonstrated by the “School of Theatre and Scenic Arts”, born from the Talamo-Avecone duo and created by the will of Mayor Guida who last year brought more than 30 young people from Positano to stage a real show, comparing themselves with artists with long experience.
“Vicoli in Arte was born to enhance the streets, alleys, villages and hamlets with shows of national and international importance, which can cheer and act as a soundtrack both for the stay of the many tourists, but also for the entertainment of our fellow citizens” – explains the mayor with satisfaction.
“Arts education is a real opportunity to discover young local talents” – adds the councilor for tourism, entertainment and culture, Giuseppe Vespoli. The events will continue for the next few months, but work is already underway on an extension of the calendar that can deseasonalise the influx of visitors to the area. The format, with the duo Talamo and Avecone is now a guarantee for our Positano, a territory rich in art and culture at 360 degrees" – says the budget councillor, Michele De Lucia.
Until next July 28, many nationally renowned performers will tread the stage, among which Carmine Di Domenico and Lalla Esposito resonate in an evening dedicated to the golden age of Neapolitan music, the American jazz musician Benny Benack III, the powerful voice of the Afro-blues singer Helen Tesfazghi, without forgetting specific performances for children and families, both in the center and in the hamlets. All events are free admission.
“This administration is firmly convinced that the rebirth and growth of a territory starts from the fact that everyone can benefit from culture” – adds Mayor Guida – and, in this perspective, for years Positano has been an example of planning and coherence".
