From the sun to the pioggia the step is short, at least in the next few days in which the clear sky of the morning will still contrast with the sudden precipitations of the afternoon. The afternoon thunderstorms will continue to be the protagonists of the weather, also hitting Emilia-Romagna tried by the flood.
Climatologists explain this by specifying that the Apennine ridge, from Abruzzo to Emilia-Romagna, will be affected by the rain. Significant precipitation is also expected in Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta and Lombardy and the instability will also affect the Tyrrhenian regions, from Tuscany to Lazio to Campania, with the characteristic of rain always in the afternoon. Thunderstorms will also not be lacking between Friday and Sunday. On Friday, in particular, precipitation will be recorded in Veneto, on Saturday and Sunday in the Alpine arc between Lombardy, Piedmont and Veneto and, in the South, also in Calabria, Basilicata and Campania.
'Afternoon thunderstorms – explains Gozzini – are quite normal in this period due to the heating of the sun in the morning, with high pressure and temperatures of up to 28-29 degrees that give rise to the phenomenon of afternoon convection, the so-called convective motions which in turn, thanks to the strengthening effect of the humid soils due to the precipitations of the last few weeks, give rise to cumuliform clouds, with strong development of thunderstorms'. To distinguish these clouds, 'just look at their shape, which resembles whipped cream or cotton candy'.
The bad weather, says Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist at iLMeteo.it, is caused by a new disturbance arriving from Germany that will also cause hailstorms from Emilia-Romagna to Piedmont. For the weekend, thanks to the unstable nucleus moving away definitively towards France, Spain and Portugal, the return of a wedge of high pressure associated with the Azores anticyclone is expected. Between Friday and Sunday, the first indications are for an improvement in the weather almost everywhere, except for a few scattered thunderstorms
