Campania regional councilor Maria Luigia Iodice says she is "completely uninvolved in the facts" in relation to the investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of North Naples which has requested that she be sent to trial on charges of falsification or alteration of ballot papers.
The investigators are targeting the 2020 regional elections, during which Iodice, originally from marcianise , was elected on Clemente Mastella's "Noi Campani" list in support of Vincenzo De Luca's candidacy for president of the Campania Region. The investigating judge of the Naples North court has set the preliminary hearing for June 27.
The investigation by the Aversa prosecutor's office was triggered by the complaint filed by the first of the non-elected, Agostino Stellato, known as "Steve", who immediately after the elections tried to have them invalidated by filing an appeal with the TAR and the Council of State, which however rejected him.
“I have full confidence in the judiciary,” said Iodice, who in a note recalled the double victory on the case obtained before the administrative justice. Maria Luigia Iodice was recently elected to the city council of Marcianise, where she ran in support of the center-right candidate Antonio Trombetta, who later became mayor, and was the most voted among the new city councilors.
