Monza Calcio expresses its closeness to Armando Izzo following the decision of the VI criminal section of the Court of Naples which sentenced the Neapolitan defender to 5 years in prison for football betting and organised crime.

The facts date back to 2014 : Izzo was convicted of external competition in a Camorra association and sporting fraud for the episodes that occurred during a match fixed during his time at Avellino , against Modena.

"AC Monza has learned that its member Armando Izzo has been convicted in the first instance for external complicity in a Camorra conspiracy and sports fraud ," the Brianza club said in a statement. " AC Monza expresses its full support for Armando, convinced of his non-involvement in criminal activity."
"The player's lawyers are disappointed with the ruling and are waiting to read the reasons; after which they will appeal ," Monza concluded.
