Yesterday afternoon, the officers of the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station, during the territorial control service, on the orders of the Operations Center, intervened in Piazza Garibaldi following a report of extortion.
The police officers, arriving on the scene, were approached by a person who said that, shortly before, after having parked her car in Via Carriera Grande, a man had approached her and demanded that she pay him 200 euros for parking; when she refused, the man had then entered the car and taken the keys still inserted in the ignition.
Therefore, the owner of the vehicle had quickly left, with the excuse of making a withdrawal to give him the money, and then contacted 113. The operators, thanks to the descriptions provided, tracked down the man in via Cesare Rosaroll where they stopped him, finding him in possession of the keys to the car.
A 38-year-old Moroccan with a criminal record was arrested for extortion, while the keys were returned to the owner.
