Produced by bassist and composer Giacomo Pedicini, it is a world music project in 6 languages where different idioms blend with music, embraced by popular sounds and modern instruments.

On May 12th “Nove Piccoli Sorsi di Mare” (SoundFly/Self) will be released, the first album as a singer-songwriter by AMADA, “voz antigua de viento y de sal” like Mercedes Sosa’s Alfonsina.

Amada, born Annalisa Madonna, from Naples, has always shown love for languages and the languages of the world. In her long career as an interpreter she has often duetted with the Israeli singer Noa. In 2003 she was a Sony artist with the group “Permiso Extraordinario”, in 2005 she was part of the theater company “Stone dancerinc” in London and in 2013 as an author and singer she debuted on Broadway with the show “T'Ammore”.

Amada “dressed in the sea” through these nine small sips becomes – it is written in the album presentation – “the amphibious creature of a possible marine hell that crosses that dark zone born of the fertility of restlessness, interprets the spirit of the times and communicates its roots, weaves them with suffering and then takes care of us with the song that enchants.

Wounded language, which tells emotions, conflicts, contrasts of ancient cultures between old cities, forgotten ports and new landscapes, the context in which life has its reason to exist.

With the salt of the sea he will heal the wounds that can never heal.”

“Nove piccoli sorsi di mare” is a world music project born one song after another, without fears but “in small sips, one after the other”. Sung in six languages – French, Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Italian and Sicilian from Catania – it was produced by bassist and composer Giacomo Pedicini (who is also co-author of the songs), a former collaborator of Joe Barbieri, Nino Buonocore, and a member of the group Spaccanapoli produced by Peter Gabriel’s Real World. Pedicini was a founding member and producer of Driving Mrs. Satan and Kantango. It was with Kantango that Amada’s voice was born, interpreter of the song “Dejame”, written by Pedicini himself with Joe Barbieri, for “Ida Y Vuelta”, an album from 2010, in which her voice is found alongside those of Lura, Susana Baca, Rupa and Richard Galliano’s accordion.

From this common thread originates “Nove Piccoli Sorsi di Mare”, an album in which different idioms merge with music, embraced by popular sounds and modern instruments.

LOVED

Annalisa Madonna, aka “Amada”, was born on the slopes of Vesuvius in the late 70s.

Daughter of a classical pianist, she was introduced to the study of piano and classical repertoire. Soon, however, she showed a natural love for singing and for the languages and languages of the world that led her by the hand towards university studies related to anthropology and ethnomusicology.

In 1999 he signed his first recording contract with Paolo Dossena's CNI music.

The first album is with Vox Populi. From this meeting the first European tour starts. Among the stops, one above all: the Festival “Sete Sois sete luas”: a traveling Festival of the time that crossed Italy, France, Spain and Portugal.

And it is Portugal that becomes a new home for Annalisa: in Algarve, the southernmost region, she spends two beautiful years.

Back in Italy, in 2003, she obtained a recording contract with Sony Edit, directed at the time by Rudy Zerbi, for the recording project “Permiso Extraordinario”.

The single “Bailando Bailando esta tarantella” presented at the Festival Bar 2003, remained at the top of the Italian charts throughout the summer.

In the same year, at the Teatro Augusteo, she duets with the Israeli singer Noa, during one of her concerts. For Annalisa it is the realization of a dream, singing with her Muse, after a long epistolary relationship with the “Nini Band”.

The following year he decided to study the art of musical in England and remained in London for a long time.

Here he joined a theatre company, the “Stone dancerinc” and performed on stage at various London theatres, such as the Hackney Empire and the Chat Palace.

During this period in London he had the opportunity to meet several artists from Brazil, thanks to whom he discovered a great love for Brazilian popular music, from choro to the unique melodies of Chico Buarque.

In 2008 he began a collaboration with two Neapolitan musicians, Giacomo Pedicini and Antonio Fresa: Kantango, passionate about tango. From this meeting was born an album, “Ida y vuelta”, with an international feel, linked to electrotango, with prestigious guests such as Richard Galliano, Susana Baça, Lura, Rupa.

With Kantango he performed in several Italian milongas; the dance concert at the Casa della musica in Rome with Argentine dancers is worth mentioning.

Amada sings the single “Dejame”, written by Giacomo Pedicini and Joe Barbieri.

As an author and singer, she participates in the creation of a Neapolitan-inspired musical that combines the tradition and modernity of Neapolitan folk.

Thus, in 2013, the show “T'Ammore” was born, with which it debuted on Broadway, at the New York City Center theatre.

With T'Ammore a Broadway, Annalisa realizes the greatest aspiration for a Musical singer and the following year she returns to Italy with a baggage full of a thousand new desires. Convinced that she is affected by “Wanderlust Syndrome”, that is, the syndrome of the perpetual traveler, she begins to write songs with different influences and founds together with Gianluca Rovinello the “Gatos do mar” and together with Elisabetta Serio, Brunella Selo and Fabiana Martone the “Sesèmamà”.

With both bands he began a passionate study of world music, from Brazil to Spain, from Italy to Africa.

Today, at 40 years old, he feels the need to take out a big dream from his baggage: to make a solo album, an album intended as a photograph of these years full of travels, meetings, discoveries and legends.
