A resounding protest, an almost extreme gesture, worthy of a true boss: Francesco De Martino, 54, head of the infamous XX family of Ponticelli, cut himself with a razor blade on his left wrist because, he claimed, journalist Klaus Davi was harassing him. It happened yesterday in the Fiat neighborhood in the heart of Ponticelli.

He did it in front of his wife and other people. He was then taken to Villa Betania hospital , treated, and discharged with a 15-day prognosis . Davi, as he had announced for days, had gone alone to the neighborhood early in the morning to cover a story on the feud that is bloodying the eastern part of Naples.

He had also managed to talk to De Martino intercepted outside for a few minutes
home, but the boss had answered reluctantly and after a few jokes, he had returned to his home. At that point Klaus Davi began to wander around the neighborhood conducting a series of interviews.

Around 1:00 PM, De Martino approached the journalist and pulled a box cutter from his pocket, cutting himself in the wrist. Family members alerted the Ponticelli police station, and three patrol cars arrived. They interviewed the journalist and then went to De Martino's home to verify the circumstances of the incident and his health.

Klaus Davi shocked: “I saw so much blood, I was alone among 20 people”

Klaus Davi said he was "shocked by what happened. I saw his arm covered in blood and I didn't even immediately understand what was happening, the reason for that self-harming act.

De Martino said he would destroy my car but I didn't let myself be intimidated, used as I am to this kind of threat. And then in those situations it's good not to lose your cool. I was alone, there were 20 of them. Then very quickly he pulled out the blade and cut his arm starting to scream".
