The Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Salerno, following a targeted investigative activity in the context of the fight against excise duty fraud, in recent days has identified and seized over 70 LPG cylinders illegally held for marketing.
Specifically, the Finance Police of the Sala Consilina Tenancy, during a report on the distribution and sale of LPG in containers, in order to combat the most widespread illegal practices, carried out an inspection at a hardware store in Vallo di Diano.
Inside the establishment, numerous gas cylinders were found, stored and offered to the public. Specific checks carried out revealed some irregularities, both with regard to safety and the required authorisations necessary for the possession of the product.
Furthermore, the owner of the shop was also found to lack the necessary fire safety certificate and therefore the LPG cylinders present inside the commercial activity, with a storage capacity of almost 1.100 kg, were seized.
The entrepreneur was thus reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office and will now have to answer for the crime of failure to report the possession of explosive material.
The fight against illegal excise duties and indirect taxation on production and consumption is one of the priorities of the Guardia di Finanza, aimed at protecting both tax revenues and economic operators who operate in compliance with the rules, trying above all to discourage consumers from purchasing products that are illegally placed on the market and are a risk to public safety.
