“The Parco della Gentilezza is the green heart of Sant'Antonio Abate, designed and built for our kids.” This is what Ilaria Abagnale, mayor of Sant'Antonio Abate, said ahead of the inauguration of the Park.
The ceremony is scheduled for today, Tuesday 9 May at 19 pm, in the presence of Gaetano Manfredi, mayor of the Metropolitan City of Naples, who will cut the ribbon together with the first citizen of Abate Ilaria Abagnale.
“The Park of Kindness – says Ilaria Abagnale – it is an oasis that allows dreams to take shape through games, readings and moments of relaxation, integrating the touch of technology that guarantees safety and serenity to anyone who comes to visit it. I thank Mayor Gaetano Manfredi for his availability and his presence, as well as the Metropolitan City of Naples that has been alongside us throughout the process for the creation of the Park. We will inaugurate this unique space together, dedicated to the community of Sant'Antonio Abate to the values of kindness, respect and solidarity”.
After the ribbon cutting, those present will watch a show of lights, music and colors. The opening of the Parco della Gentilezza will also be an opportunity to remember two very young people from Abate, who recently passed away.The memory of Giovanni and Gerardo will continue to live in us – Ilaria Abagnale specifies – and two commemorative plaques will be placed in the Park, in memory of two young souls of our community, who flew away too soon".
“One more goal for Giovanni” who, at just 8 years old, had to give up his dream of a football career, but his spirit and passion will remain forever in the hearts of all Abatesi. For this reason, the gates of the multi-sport field of Parco della Gentilezza will be dedicated to his memory. “One more basket for Gerardo”, taken away from life at just 16 years old: his talent in basketball and his team spirit were an example for everyone. For this reason, the baskets of the field will be dedicated to him.
“Through sport we can continue to promote the positive and altruistic values that they both embodied during their short, intense and profound happy lives. Soon – concludes Ilaria Abagnale – in agreement with their families, we will organize a moment dedicated to the placement of the plaques at the multi-sport field of the Parco della Gentilezza. We are certain that this small gesture will only strengthen the memory of their presence, already alive in our community”.
