Turkish Airlines First Officer

Since joining the ranks of Turkish Airlines on April 16, 2019, Alessandro Varisco has embarked on an extraordinary journey, flying both the Boeing 737 NG and the 737 MAX-8 and -9 aircraft.

Today, as Senior First Officer, his flight records are a testament to his boundless dedication and professional maturity. In each flight undertaken, he not only covered distances, but also navigated different climates, faced complex operations and honed his expertise.

Intercontinental travel: the routes of pilot Alessandro Varisco

Alessandro's flights span continents, intertwining with the skies of Europe, embracing the horizons of Asia and touching the nations of North and Central Africa. His role includes not only extensive international routes but also domestic flights within the Turkish borders.

The diversity of these destinations not only honed his aviation skills, but also gave him an in-depth understanding of the intricate interplay between distinct terrains, weather patterns, and operational complexities.

Alessandro graduated with honors as a Computer Science Expert at the ITI Informatico G. Bearzi in Udine, Italy.

He then went on to specialise with an honours degree in Aviation Management at Buckinghamshire New University in the UK.

This achievement kick-started his career as a pilot.

From passion to success

The path to the rank of Senior First Officer is characterized by noble principles such as relentless dedication and the desire to dream.

Alessandro's journey began with the acquisition of his Private Pilot License (PPL) from Elifriulia, Trieste Airport, Italy.

Seeking avenues for more meaningful experiences that could add value to his professional profile, he took a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to participate in his flight hour accumulation venture with Airborne Systems Inc.

The Piper PA28 aircraft later proved to be a faithful companion, as he logged 100 hours of command, further increasing his experience in the field.

Academic and professional achievements in the aeronautical field

For Alessandro, the sky was only the starting point.

The CAE Pilot Academy in Oxford provided him with a gateway to knowledge, enabling him to overcome the challenges of the intricate Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory exams, a total of 14.

Undaunted by obstacles, he once again crossed continents, this time to Phoenix, Arizona, to gain his Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) for multi-engine aircraft. Returning to Oxford, he further honed his skills, undertaking Instrument Rating (IR) training on the Piper Seneca-V and excelling in multi-crew coordination/jet orientation on a Boeing 737-400 full flight simulator.

In particular, his spirit of exploration led him to seize an exceptional opportunity: an exhilarating three-hour UPRT aerobatic course aboard the Extra 300L aircraft.

Certifications and Training Records

Alessandro's professional profile reflects his unwavering dedication to the profession he has undertaken since 2014.

He holds an EASA Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) from the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and a UK ATPL from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and proudly holds a valid Boeing 737 300-900 type rating.

His pursuit of excellence culminated in his participation in the FAA ATP/CTP course at Alliance Aviation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in January 2023.

A Future Full of Opportunities in the States

As the global aviation landscape continues to change, the United States faces a significant pilot shortage. Alessandro Varisco's story shines as a beacon of hope in this challenging landscape.

With his diverse skills, extensive flight experience and solid foundation of aviation knowledge, Alessandro is a promising candidate to alleviate this shortage.

His ability to adapt to various aircraft and environments, coupled with his meticulous training, underscores his potential to effectively contribute to the aviation industry in the United States.

His professional journey and accomplishments, culminating in his position as Senior First Officer, paint a compelling picture of a pilot who could undoubtedly be part of the solution to the pilot shortage America is grappling with.
