The free beach of Bagnoli, as several citizens reported to the Green-Left alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, has long since become an open-air landfill and a homeless camp.
“We reported the situation to the Port Authority and asked for immediate clean-up interventions.- explains Borrelli– There are very few public beaches in the city and those that remain are most of the time inaccessible and unusable.
The Port Authority is doing a good recovery intervention but now we also need to do prevention to avoid certain situations. It is time for the sea to really bathe Naples, contrary to the title of Anna Maria Ortese's book, and for the beaches to be returned to the citizens".
“We have also alerted social services to intervene to give existence to the homeless who have camped there. They cannot live in those conditions. We have been asking for a new plan to manage the homeless emergency for some time, with new structures and more services”, concluded the MP.
