A young girl was stabbed to death by a boy her age, who then carried her body about a hundred meters down the street, hiding it inside a garbage bag that was then placed in a shopping cart.

Horror has erupted in the Primavalle neighborhood of Rome after the body of a 17-year-old Roman girl, Maria Michelle Causo, was found: the person who stabbed her to death was apparently another minor who tried to get rid of the body and was stopped.

It is said that a passer-by noticed the scene and at around 15pm alerted the emergency number 112: "I saw that boy come down with a trolley and a black waste bag with liquid dripping from it," he reportedly told the workers. "You can also smell a strong odor."

When the alerted police officers arrived on the scene, they found some blood stains leading from a door of a building to a dumpster in Via Stefano Borgia, a street in the popular neighborhood located in the northwest peripheral quadrant of the capital.

According to an initial reconstruction, which has yet to be examined, the young man attempted to throw the victim's body in the garbage, but was unsuccessful. The body, therefore, remained in the cart near the wall of a park, not far from the dumpsters.

In a short time, the officers of the Flying Squad and the police station blocked off the entire street and, thanks to the testimonies, traced the boy, apparently of foreign origin, who was stopped and questioned: his position is however still being examined.

The murder appears to have occurred several hours earlier, but it cannot be ruled out that the 17-year-old may have been dead for a few days.

The autopsy will determine this. But investigators are currently also trying to shed light on the details of a case in which other people may be involved and whose motive is currently unclear.

The police are already examining CCTV footage in the area for any evidence that might help reconstruct the circumstances of the murder and are questioning people in the building from which the 17-year-old reportedly emerged with the victim's body.

Residents of the neighborhood are still in shock, in disbelief at what happened. Many leaned out from the balconies of public housing blocks to watch the forensic investigations, between the buildings and a municipal park, near which there is a local market currently closed for construction.

Others took to the streets, forming small groups of people along the narrow, one-way street, which also houses a few shops. The dumpster where the body was reportedly found is almost at the intersection with Via Centurione Bracelli: an area cordoned off by police.

Boys and girls in the streets for hours have been looking for information about the girl to see if they knew her and many are convinced that she lives a few steps away from the place where her body was found.

At the beginning of Via Borgia, there's also a bar, where everyone claims they didn't notice anything. A local resident who works in another bar says: "We saw three police patrols arrive in front of us. They told us they'd found a dead girl and were analyzing blood trails. I don't know who she is, but I think that girl lived in the area.".

Another added: "I have a fourteen-year-old niece and I can't trust anyone anymore." Everyone is shocked: "I've lived here for many years, nothing like this has ever happened," they comment. The story of the seventeen-year-old killed in Primavalle recalls another news story that happened on August 15th six years ago, when Nicoletta Diotallevi's legs, tied with parcel tape, were found in a garbage container in via Maresciallo Pilsudsky, killed by her brother in the most central neighborhood of Parioli.
