The story of “A Voice for Padre Pio”
The brainchild of Enzo Palumbo, the program for 24 years has told human stories, experiences of devotion and faith that refer to the teaching of Padre Pio: to give relief to human suffering. “A Voice for Padre Pio” it is above all solidarity, this year more than ever.
As always, the programme is accompanied by a fundraising campaign, supported by Rai per il Sociale, to support projects of “A Voice for Padre Pio Onlus”. In our country, the organization is active with 'Objective Italy', especially in Naples, where requests for help increased by 40% during the pandemic. Over 8 families have been reached by the food aid distributed. The projects are varied: 'Brother Study Sister School' provides support to primary school children, to combat school dropout; 'Add a seat at the table' addresses the effects of the economic and social crisis also linked to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, providing concrete support to families in emergency situations; 'Reach out' provides financial contributions to families to pay for utilities, medical expenses and other basic needs.
Solidarity and human stories at “Una Voce per Padre Pio”
With 'Objective Africa', the organization operates in Africa, where in recent years the number of people living in conditions of deprivation has increased by 9 million. In Ivory Coast, orphanages and residential facilities for disabled minors and boys are active, where over 120 girls and boys live, some of them with disabilities.
Furthermore, the 'Humanitarian Corridor Rebel Hearts', a medical-health program thanks to which minors with congenital cardiomyopathies from Ivory Coast and Cameroon are transferred to Italy to undergo life-saving surgery. From 2022 to today, over 60 children have been treated in this way. In Yaoundé, Cameroon, a new family home is also planned to open, which will host orphaned or abandoned children.
Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration with the KFOR Multinational Specialized Unit Mission – Pristina MSU, the Humanitarian Health Corridor is also active with Kosovo.
