Three cars involved, one of which overturned; seven injured, five of whom were hospitalized.
This is the outcome of the serious road accident which occurred shortly after eleven this morning on the outskirts of Avellino on the very busy Via Nazionale di Torre di MercoglianoNumerous 118 ambulances, firefighters, carabinieri and police arrived on site.
The family made up of a father, mother and three small children, who were travelling in one of the cars, fared the worst: they were transported to the “Moscati” hospital in Avellino. Their conditions are not serious.
The other occupants of the cars involved, a man and a woman, were treated on site. The causes of the pileup are under investigation. One of the cars ended up on the sidewalk after overturning: only by chance were no pedestrians involved.
Traffic, which was very heavy on this road on Saturday morning, was severely slowed down. The accident area, after being cleared of the cars involved in the accident, was made safe by firefighters.
