Cut in two by concrete blocks for almost a year, causing inconvenience to shopkeepers and residents, via San Carlo, an important street in the historic centre of Caserta, work has finally begun on the unsafe building located at number 33, the uninhabitability of which had led to the closure of the historic artery last October.
The problem of the delay in starting the works was linked to the agreement that the owners of the building had to find on the company to be appointed.
Furthermore, the Municipality of Caserta had issued two ordinances with which it ordered the condominiums to take immediate action - the ordinances were not carried out - then in April the administration had decided to break the deadlock and start the procedure for the demolition of the building, but the process did not reach its conclusion probably due to the financial problems of the Municipality, as demolitions cost several tens of thousands of euros.
And in the meantime, the owners of the building themselves have taken action to take the “chestnuts out of the fire” for the Municipality. The company in charge of the work will install a system of chains and tie rods, necessary to achieve effective consolidation of the building.
Once the work is completed, the road will reopen completely and the concrete New Jersey barriers will be removed. To complete the work, the Municipality informs, "it will take about 15 working days, barring any technical complications. Therefore, by the beginning of August, Via San Carlo will be completely passable".
