The process of reorganising the Local Police Corps has been started Napoli with the adoption of the first administrative act according to the indications of the mayor Manfredi and the councilor for Legality De Iesu.
Following the Council Resolution 185/23 and the subsequent Provision of the General Director n°17 of 19/06/2023, concerning the new definition of the articulation of the entire Municipal Authority, the subdivision of the Security Area into three services was envisaged.
The commander, General Ciro Esposito, has issued the first consequential act of reorganization of the Local Police of Naples, which will be followed by other measures of competence.
With this management provision, effective July 4, 2023, the Poggioreale and San Lorenzo operational units will be merged in order to have a single correspondence between the territorial department of the Local Police and the 4th Municipality.
The same provision also provided for the territorial jurisdiction of all the Local Police Operational Units to coincide with those of the respective Municipalities, so as to make the activity of the Local Police of Naples increasingly efficient and closer to the citizens.

With this act, the Commands of the territorial Operational Units of the Corps go from eleven to ten, but the services that are ensured in each territory remain all confirmed. "The project of partial reorganization of the Municipal Police passes through two organizational levels - explained the Councilor for Legality Antonio De Iesu - the first provides that the security area be divided into three services directed by as many managers for a rational division of responsibilities and to respond to the optimization of the organizational machine.
The second model foresees that the jurisdictions of the 10 Municipalities will be conformed to by the Territorial Operational Units of the Municipal Police, headed by highly professional officials.
This will promote a more harmonious synergy between the Presidents of the Municipalities and the heads of the Operational Units to share the needs and requirements of the communities in terms of urban security and identify their priorities.
The heads of the Operational Units will depend hierarchically and functionally exclusively on the Commander of the Municipal Police and on the managers responsible for the Services".
