Campania regional councilor Maria Luigia Iodice, originally from Marcianise, was acquitted "for not having committed the crime," after the Naples North prosecutor's office had requested her to be sent to trial on suspicion of falsifying or altering ballot papers in relation to the 2020 regional elections.
Specifically, the prosecution challenged the 13 votes Iodice received in section 9 of the municipality of San Cipriano di Aversa, which they believed had been manipulated with the candidate's involvement. However, the preliminary hearing judge of the Naples North Court, Raffaele Coppola, instead ordered an acquittal, also rejecting the civil plaintiff's requests.
Iodice, upon learning of the sentence, expressed satisfaction by getting a few things off his chest.

The Aversa prosecutor's office had triggered the investigation following a complaint filed by the first of the non-elected members, Agostino Stellato, who immediately after the 2020 regional elections attempted to have them invalidated by filing an appeal with the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) and the Council of State, which, however, rejected his decision.
