Municipal police officers threatened with death by a man riding a scooter without a helmet and without a license. It happened in San Giorgio a Cremano, in the province of Naples, and the mayor Giorgio Zinno reported it, expressing his “full solidarity with our agents committed every day to protecting legality”.
The incident, Zinno reports, occurred this morning around midday in Piazza Massimo Troisi: “Two officers stopped a scooter on which two people were travelling without protective helmets and the driver, aged 27, also did not have a driving licence.
At the officers' stop, the young driver lunged at them, threatening to kill them and verbally attacking them, imitating the gesture of a gun. Horrifying, provocative and dangerous phrases that I will not report because they are shameful.
Phrases that could have been followed by equally dangerous actions, which were avoided thanks to the courage of the officers". All of this, the mayor underlines, “it took place under the eyes of incredulous passers-by who witnessed the scene, while the deputy commander, Lieutenant Colonel Attilio De Vita, went to the scene and immediately proceeded to report the man for threatening to kill, insulting and resisting a public official.
The man was found to be a resident of San Giorgio a Cremano and had many previous convictions for specific crimes ranging from theft to fraud.
On behalf of our community, I express full solidarity with the municipal police officers who are committed every day to carrying out their duty to protect legality, to ensure the safety of our beautiful San Giorgio a Cremano and at the same time I congratulate them for having been able to manage this difficult situation. Don't give up, we are with you", concludes the mayor of San Giorgio a Cremano.
