The preliminary hearing judge of Lodi has sentenced two RFI maintenance workers to three years in prison, accused of complicity in multiple manslaughter and train disaster for the derailment of the Frecciarossa 9595 Milan-Salerno which occurred on 6 February 2020 near Livraga, in which two train drivers died.
The accident occurred on February 6, 2020, at a junction near the town of Livraga, in the province of Lodi, while traveling at 300 kilometers per hour.
The two train drivers died in the accident and about thirty people were injured. The judge also sent to trial five defendants who chose the ordinary trial, where the charges to varying degrees are multiple manslaughter and train disaster.
The judge acquitted another employee of Rete ferrovia italiana. The trial with ordinary procedure will open on January 9th.
Together with three other defendants, the former CEOs of RFI, Maurizio Gentile, and Alstom Ferroviaria, Michele Viale, were acquitted at a preliminary hearing in Lodi from the charges of complicity in multiple manslaughter and train disaster for the derailment of the Frecciarossa 9595 Milan-Salerno which occurred on 6 February 2020 near Livraga, in which two train drivers died and 32 passengers and on-board personnel were injured.
The acquittals were ordered by the preliminary hearing judge of Lodi, Francesco Salerno, in the same hearing in which he sentenced two RFI workers to three years in prison, acquitted another technical instructor from the same company and sent another five defendants to trial (four employees of Alstom Ferroviaria and one of RFI).
