Forty-one years of Ferragosto Sannazzareno! Unmissable, like every summer, one of the longest-running summer events in Campania that returns from 9 to 17 August in the name of a mix of music, games, dances, conviviality, gastronomy and tourism.
San Nazzaro, the capital of the Sannio summer for 41 years, offers many days of celebration in line with a consolidated tradition appreciated by the public, starting from the distant summer of 1981.Article Key Points
Today, Ferragosto Sannazzareno is one of the most well-known and popular summer festivals in the region, so much so that San Nazzaro becomes an island of fun and lightheartedness for residents and tourists.
As always, the preview is dedicated to sports and recreational events, from volleyball to children's games, for which you can register from Monday, August 7. From August 9 to 15, the food stands will also be open to the public. The first musical event will be held on Wednesday, August 9 in Villa Comunale: Lando Cafè, the Italian-Latin band that ranges from Latin Pop, Manu Chao, Jarabe de Palo, Gipsy Kings and much more. On Friday, August 11, we move to Piazza Roma, the historic location of the event, with a double concert: the historic Latin ska reggae band Radio Babylon, from Macerata and active since 1997, and the singer-songwriter from Brescia Auroro Borealo, who offers a mix of indie rock and punk.
On Saturday 12th August one of the most active bands from San Nazzaro in recent years, Dr. Jazz & Dirty Bucks, returns to Ferragosto. The group led by Dr. Jazz Alfredo Verga plays traditional American music such as ragtime, dixieland, swing and blues, imagining a bridge between Italy and Mississippi, between Naples and New Orleans. On Sunday 13th another welcome return to San Nazzaro, that of Sandro Joyeux, a globetrotting French musician, defined as 'a white griot', a musical and cultural encyclopedia that is not commonly encountered. World music cannot be missed in San Nazzaro, so on Monday 14th, for the eve of Ferragosto, SudTerranea will take to the stage, already guests a few years ago: a group of musicians from San Nazzaro who revisit popular music with a youthful sound.
The main day of Tuesday, August 15th respects tradition: in the morning the vintage car rally, in the evening full-throttle dancing (ballroom, Latin American, 60s and 70s, group dancing) with Jonathan and the Good Music, and at midnight the celebration of summer. On Thursday, August 17th the Ferragosto Sannazzareno ends with the famous eco-wine walk, an opportunity for great socialization that regularly sees the participation of hundreds of people, including tourists intrigued by the Sannio hills and contact with nature.
