An urgent meeting to stem the phenomenon of "frequent attacks that are occurring against operators of local public transport companies in the province of Salerno".
This is the request forwarded by Filt Cgil Campania and Salerno with Fit Cisl, Uilt Uil, Ugl and Faisa Cisal, to the Prefecture, to the Campania Region and to all the public transport companies in the province. The union is asking for measures, which have already been taken at the prefecture, "to prevent and assist personnel subject to assaults during their work performance: purchase of buses with armoured driver's cabins, activation of an emergency response system using the geo-localisation devices currently present on regional buses, monitoring of routes aimed at identifying and reporting critical areas to the police, legal assistance to company personnel who have been assaulted, adjustment of the clothing of inspection personnel".
“Commitments and measures that – Angelo Lustro, general secretary of Filt Cgil Campania and Gerardo Arpino, general secretary of Filt Cgil Salerno, point out – have not yet found the right response, while instead we have recorded five attacks, in the last few weeks alone, against various companies of the Local Public Transport of Salerno”. “Given the gravity of the situation – Lustro and Arpino conclude – we ask for prompt intervention by the institutions and companies in the sector. Otherwise, we will evaluate starting the necessary procedures to activate an initial strike action given the serious events that put the safety and security of workers at risk”.
