Gianni Vietri, 61, a postal worker from Avellino, was struck down by a heart attack while participating in a soccer game with friends in Altavilla Irpina.
He, who is a former footballer, played in the amateur leagues of the province of Avellino, was betrayed by the heat and by his heart which he probably didn't know had problems.
The man collapsed on the soccer field a few minutes after the start of the match between friends.
The rescue efforts were useless, the man died in the ambulance leaving his friends who were with him stunned and dismayed and his family in pain.
Last year he had experienced the tragedy of losing his beloved wife. Vietri, leaves behind two daughters. The funeral will take place tomorrow (August 24, at 16.30:XNUMX p.m.) at the church of Trinità dei Poveri in Avellino.
