They managed to escape before the car they were traveling in was engulfed in flames.

It happened in the late morning on the A16 Naples-Canosa, in the territory of Monteforte Irpino, in the province of Avellino. The three people on board, coming from Naples, stopped the car after noticing smoke coming out of the engine compartment.

The Fire Department of the Avellino Detachment arrived on site and proceeded to contain and extinguish the fire. The operations to secure the roadway caused slowdowns in the southbound direction before traffic returned to complete normality.
