The list of road deaths continues to mount in what appears to be a cursed summer for Campania.
A retired couple was in fact hit and killed by a car late yesterday evening on the provincial road in Irpinia that connects Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi to the disused railway station of Morra de Sanctis.
The two, from Nusco, in the province of Avellino, were hit by a car while crossing the road to reach the place where the threshing festival was taking place. According to initial reports, the car stopped after the accident.
The victims of the accident last night in Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi were called Vittorio Biancaniello and Lucia MarinoThey lived in Nusco and were about to spend a carefree evening for the threshing festival when they were hit by a car.
Biancaniello died instantly, his wife was being transported to hospital. The two communities of Avellino involved, the one where the couple resided and the one where the party was taking place, were in mourning.
Vittorio and Lucia were a well-known couple in the area, he was a hairdresser. Parents of 4 children, the firstborn is Francesco Biancaniello, candidate for mayor in the last elections, now minority councilor.
