“It was one of the most successful editions ever of Alla Tavola della Principessa Costanza”: this, in short, is the opinion shared by the public, the organizers and the protagonists of the medieval festival par excellence.
In the historic center of the art city of Vallo di Diano, the echoes of the tens of thousands of visitors who came from all over Italy to Teggiano on August 11, 12 and 13 still resonate, extremely different in geographical origin and age but united by the satisfaction of having been there, and by the conviction of having participated in an event that, now in its 1480th edition, continues to represent a rare pearl in the panorama of the varied summer of Salerno and Campania. Many - as always happens - will return to Teggiano next year, perhaps bringing friends and acquaintances with them: and it is precisely the public's appreciation that is one of the ingredients that over the years have contributed to amplifying the myth of the event dedicated to the celebrations for the wedding of the beloved Princess Costanza with Prince Antonello Sanseverino, which took place in XNUMX.
The enthusiasm of those who participated in “Alla Tavola della Principessa Costanza” is a seal of quality that does not arise by chance, but is a logical consequence of the meticulous work put in place by Pro Loco Teggiano to reactivate its spectacular time machine every year, capable of turning back the hands of clocks by over 500 years. With the courage to open up to innovation, while remaining firmly in the wake of a winning tradition.
As it happened also in this 2023 edition, characterized by a real record of requests to participate in the Historical Parade from all over Italy (the participants exceeded 500), and by some successful innovations, including the "tasty" preview of "Waiting for Princess Costanza", dedicated in particular to the youngest and held on August 10. Among the novelties also the attempted attack carried out against Prince Antonello Sanseverino at the Seggio, a very spectacular moment. The public, surprised by the unexpected event, holds its breath until it breathes a sigh of relief when the hooded and unfortunate attackers are stopped by the armed guards, and put in a position where they cannot do any harm.
The new “Taverna de lo Viandante Celiaco”, completely gluten-free, was also a success, re-proposing some of the traditional dishes in a delicious and gluten-free menu. But it must be said that all the Taverns were literally stormed, so much so that in some cases they had to declare “sold out” before the end of the evenings: confirming that the rich food and wine offer represents another fundamental ingredient of the medieval festival. Together of course with the beauty of the historic center of Teggiano: walking along the ancient streets you cannot help but be enraptured and admired by this true treasure chest of art, which for three days offers tens of thousands of visitors all its precious jewels.
Open-scene applause and a success beyond all expectations characterized the most important novelty of this edition: the theatrical spectacularization “La notte buia dei Sanseverino”, staged after midnight in the suggestive location of Castello Macchiaroli, in front of an unstoppable crowd. The new event did not make us miss the Assault on the Castle in any way: everyone was fascinated by the show, which also wanted to send a strong message against all wars. The final fireworks, against the backdrop of a unique and memorable scenario, also metaphorically closed an edition that will remain etched in our memory for a long time, in which every part contributed to an extraordinary final result.
Another bet won by Pro Loco Teggiano and the president Biagio Matera: “The enthusiasm of the public encountered this year - confirms Matera - makes us extremely satisfied. We can say with certainty that we have brought our event back to its pre-pandemic splendor, indeed in a certain sense this year we have registered an even greater desire to be there and participate. All elements that make us happy: we have always been convinced of the beauty of our event, but certainly seeing thousands of people arriving from all over Italy remaining enchanted and fascinated in our Teggiano is a source of great pride for us. At the Table of Princess Costanza -concludes the president of Pro Loco Teggiano- it is part of ourselves and our lives, so much so that our thoughts inevitably already turn to the 29th edition”.
Extremely positive balance also for the mayor of Teggiano Michele Di Candia: “Tens of thousands of visitors in three days are mind-boggling numbers -highlight- and it is possible to welcome them only thanks to the praiseworthy work and teamwork of hundreds of people: an organizational machine that has no equal, starting from the Pro Loco Teggiano and the many volunteers. We have registered full occupancy in many accommodation facilities, not only in Teggiano, and this is an extremely encouraging sign for the entire Vallo di Diano”.
Also this year the Campania Region was close to the event: “Walking through the streets of Teggiano in these three days - comments Regional Councilor Corrado Matera- it really seemed that the Vallo di Diano was at the center of Italy. The echo of different accents and dialects was reflected everywhere, creating a concrete example of that widespread tourism for which we have worked so hard as the Campania Region. A truly beautiful emotion, especially after the forced pandemic pause, which confirms all the potential of the Vallo di Diano. We will continue to persevere in our incessant commitment to the enhancement of this splendid territory”.
