An ancient tomb was found this morning in Via Belvedere in Battipaglia, in the Salerno area. The discovery occurred completely by chance while work was being done on the water networks. A stone sarcophagus complete with cover was found under some pipes.
The find was left on site and the area was made safe. The work was suspended. In the meantime, Asis, the Salerno network and plant company, has already alerted the Superintendency of Salerno, which is responsible for all the checks and verifications to establish the era of the tomb.
