The scam, to the detriment of a 75-year-old pensioner from Bologna, was successful and yielded a loot of around 10 thousand euros, but the two scammers were arrested by the police after a lively chase. They are two twenty-year-olds Napoli, one with a criminal record and the other with no criminal record, accused of fraud aggravated, resisting and injuring a public official, aggravated damage.
After the call from the so-called nephew, the victim received a call from a man who pretended to be the director of a post office, who advised the 75-year-old to hurry up because the boy absolutely needed the money.

The escape of the two scammers with the loot was intercepted by a police patrol, which was in the Mazzini area for territorial control services and noticed a rental car with a suspicious person on board, joined shortly after by another young man who came out of a condominium with an envelope in his hand.
At the sight of the police, the boy on foot pushed them and started running, only to be caught up. The other one took off with the car trying to run over the same officers, one of whom fell to the ground, suffering injuries to a shoulder (20 days prognosis).
In the ensuing chase, the fugitive rammed another police car and, after also damaging a parked car, went off the road. It was later discovered that he also did not have a license. All the stolen goods were recovered.
