This evening I witnessed a regrettable event. I was near the Villa Comunale Calvisia when at a certain point I glimpsed from afar a large group of kids brandishing wooden bats and baseball bats.

As soon as I realized what was happening I rushed towards the boys to understand what their real intentions were. I ordered them to throw away what they were holding.

From what I understand, the groups that faced each other were ready to give each other a good beating. – is what the Mayor of Calvizzano, Giacomo Pirozzi, denounces in a note.

“I later learned that it has been common practice for some time now to give rise to clashes between gangs of teenagers from various municipalities in the hinterland, who gather in Villa Calvisia to challenge each other physically.

I immediately informed the Carabinieri, who arrived on site, and I reprimanded the people present in the villa who seemed uninterested in the matter.” – continues Pirozzi.

I believe that every good citizen should, out of civic sense, report or report to the relevant authorities these intolerable manifestations of violence. We will adopt restrictive measures to ensure that such episodes do not happen again in the future, before the irreparable happens.

We cannot allow our streets to become an unregulated and out-of-control Wild West.

I am evaluating the possibility of temporarily closing the facility, out of respect for the many families terrified by this behavior, for the many children who do not live peacefully in this beautiful facility, and for the many residents of the area who live with immense discomfort, while waiting to find a definitive solution in a short time for the peaceful management of this public asset. By now, every human and civil value has been lost.

It is not possible that a place of entertainment turns into a battlefield. Baby gangs are a serious issue to address, our suburbs are full of young people ready to give vent to brutal violence. There needs to be a lot of collaboration between municipal administrations, law enforcement, juvenile courts and social services. – he said
the mayor of Calvizzano concluded.
