Fugitive mafia boss Luigi Caccapuoti has been arrested. The news was released by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.
The head of the Ministry of the Interior complimented the police and investigators for the operation conducted today by the Carabinieri in Giugliano in Campania, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Naples DDA, at the end of which he was arrested Luigi Cacciapuoti.
The well-known criminal is considered the head of the homonymous clan operating in the territory of villaricca and in the surrounding municipalities – who, sentenced to 15 years in prison for mafia-type association, had been untraceable for some time.
“The arrests of dangerous fugitives continue in Italy and abroad, the result of the operational capabilities and commitment of the women and men of the police force, working every day, in the most diverse scenarios, to guarantee the safety of citizens and public order. My thanks go to all of them”, Piantedosi said.
Cacciapuoti is considered by investigators to be the regent of the clan together with the other boss Domenico Ferrara, 60 years old, known as “mimí 'o muccuso”.
The boss was arrested in January 2013 after three years on the run, and was released from prison on August 9, 2017, due to the expiration of the terms of his pre-trial detention by the Review Court. Since then he had been a fugitive until his capture today.
