According to Don Maurizio Patriciello, the Caivano sports center, which was devastated by neglect and vandals, and was the scene of gang violence against the two cousins, will reopen as a sports center by spring 2024.
The parish priest shared this information with reporters, citing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's remarks during the recently concluded meeting. Father Patriciello added that spring 2024 is just a few months away and that he believes the promise will be kept.
The parish priest also commented that if the promises are not kept, the community will not hesitate to express their dissatisfaction.
Furthermore, Don Maurizio Patriciello stated that during the conversation with Giorgia Meloni he raised the issue of blocking porn sites. This is one of the topics discussed during the long meeting in the church of San Paolo, in Parco Verde.
The parish priest explained that he felt encouraged by the Prime Minister's response and felt it was necessary to share with her the difficult reality of the Caivano neighborhood, which is located in the Land of Fires.
Two other local priests also attended the meeting, and Father Patriciello emphasized that, while the organization may not be perfect, there are many supporters fighting to improve the situation. He concluded by saying that their fight will never end, and he hopes that at the end of his life he will be able to say he fought the good fight, like Saint Paul.
