“All the warning signs were there, it was clear that she was in danger and yet nothing was done to prevent that man from killing her.”

This is the comment of Giovanni De Gennaro, lawyer of the family of Anna Scala, the woman stabbed to death last August 17th by her ex Salvatore Ferraiuolo in Piano di Sorrento. “A precautionary measure, even just a bracelet, would have avoided this tragedy,” says the lawyer.

Lawyer De Gennaro is also related to the woman's family and his outburst is even more heartfelt. "The threats," says the lawyer while he is on his way to the funeral, "have pushed her to withdraw the charges, but when this happens the investigators' attention must sharpen. That is precisely the moment that must push those investigating to question the real reasons for that choice."

“Anna – continues De Gennaro – had recently decided to live her life normally, despite the advice of her brothers, who asked her to be more careful. Obviously she avoided isolated places but it wasn’t enough”.

According to the lawyer, "there is something to be done, to be rectified in the management of the so-called 'red code': the sections of the Public Prosecutor's Offices that deal with this real national emergency must be strengthened and, above all, greater discretion must be given to those investigating, to those in the area, to those who know the people involved: a precautionary measure, even just a bracelet - he repeats - would have avoided this tragedy".

Salvatore De Gennaro in front of the investigating judge, 'I wasn't myself'

“He appeared deeply sorry for what had happened. He made confessional statements, but he also said that what had happened was not the event itself.”

This was told to the press agencies by the lawyer Gabriele Cimmino, who with his colleague Roberto Civita is defending Salvatore Ferraiuolo, the 54-year-old who the other day killed in Piano di Sorrento, Anna Scala, the hairdresser from Vico Equense with whom he had had a relationship.

In the morning, the hearing to validate the arrest issued by the prosecutor's office on Thursday was held in Torre Annunziata. Ferraiuolo, who had already confessed to killing his ex-partner, also in front of the investigating judge "admitted what happened and is now deeply confused and shocked", says lawyer Cimmino.

The motive for the murder was "of a passion nature", the lawyer confirmed: the man had not accepted the woman's decision to end the relationship and had been reported twice by his ex-partner for his violent reactions.

Anna attacked on beach before murder, 'p… take away the complaint'

Attacked on the beach 24 days before the murder, stabbed and assaulted on the phone with shouts like: “Go and take down the complaint, when I get back I'll kill you... I'll go and report you... You're a whore, a whore, you're supporting an old man”.

This is what emerges from the arrest warrant for the crime of murder of Anna Scala, injuries and mistreatment in the family against the 54-year-old from Piano di Sorrento Salvatore Ferraiuolo.

The stabbing with “numerous stabs to various parts of the body” on August 17 was in fact preceded by an escalation of episodes reported by the woman: on July 24 on the San Montano beach in Massa Lubrense the 54-year-old insulted her and hit her “in the face with a fist” causing “bruises to the face, scalp and neck - contusive trauma to the tip of the nose and upper lip on the right” which will heal in 5 days.

Episode reported the same day by Scala to the Massa Lubrense Carabinieri station, reporting the “habitual episodes of mistreatment” carried out by his partner. A year earlier – July 25, 2022 – he had shown up at his friend Vincenza D'Esposito's house in Sorrento and had hit her with punches and slaps, causing bruises and broken teeth. On July 25, 2023, yet another phone call ordering the complaint to be dropped.

Twenty-three days later, the murder came "acting with premeditation", according to the prosecutor of Torre Annunziata Federico Nesso and the Prosecutor Nunzio Fragliasso, because on the occasion of the crime of mistreatment in the family Ferraiuolo would have equipped himself "with a knife", waiting for his companion "for about an hour" before hitting her.
