The third edition of FIRE, the starting line on August 31st, will International Festival of Aeneas' Route, born to promote the eponymous Cultural Route of the Council of Europe. Dedicated this year to “The crater of Aeneas: Napoli and/it is the Mediterranean”, will take place between Sorrento and the Phlegraean Fields, organized by the Rotta di Enea Association, by the Archaeological Park of the Campi Flegrei, as part of the “Antro” event, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Sorrento and Slow Food Italy.
Following a tried and tested formula, it includes, as in past editions, meetings with experts, theatrical performances, concerts at the Aragonese Castle, poetry readings, aperitifs at sunset. There will also be the Aeneas' ship which will leave from Sorrento on August 31st to reach the Gulf of Pozzuoli.
The Festival wants to celebrate the Route of Aeneas, the mythical journey of the Trojan hero, from Troy to Italy, sung by Virgil, who entered the "gotha" in 2021 of the itineraries certified by the Council of Europe, thus becoming the 45th European cultural itinerary. Campania, Cuma and the Phlegraean Fields are, in fact, significant stages of the Trojan Hero's journey.
