A special traffic device was implemented in Naples to allow the filming of Paolo Sorrentino's Untitled.

According to an ordinance of the Municipality of Naples, will be set up from 07:00 to 20:30 on 16, 19 and 21 August 2023, in via Caracciolo, in the stretch between piazza Vittoria and piazza della Repubblica, and in viale Dohrn.

The ban on vehicular transit, except for law enforcement vehicles and emergency and rescue vehicles; the suspension of the cycling path and of the areas reserved for stopping vehicles used for public transport in urban line service.

On 17 and 18 August 2023: the ban on vehicular transit, except for law enforcement vehicles and emergency and rescue vehicles, in Via San Carlo and in Piazza Trieste e Trento; one-way traffic: in the carriageways of Piazza del Plebiscito in front of the Prefecture building, in the direction of Piazza Carolina.

And also in Piazza Carolina, from the confluence of Via Gennaro Serra to that of Via Chiaia; in Via Chiaia, from the confluence of Piazza Carolina to that of Via Gaetano Filangieri; in Via Toledo, in the stretch between Via Santa Brigida and Via Chiaia, from the confluence of Via Santa Brigida to that of Piazza Trieste e Trento.

Then in Via Chiaia, in the stretch between Piazza Trieste e Trento and Piazza Carolina, from the confluence of Piazza Trieste e Trento to that of Piazza Carolina.

And again, for vehicles travelling along via Gennaro Serra, it is mandatory to turn left onto piazza Carolina; the suspension in Via San Carlo of the area reserved for parking vehicles used for non-scheduled public transport (taxis) and of the area reserved for stopping vehicles used for public transport in urban line service.

We also remind you that for the entire day of the 16th, 19th and 21st, access to the Rotonda Diaz beach will also be prohibited.

In this regard, it should be remembered that just yesterday there was an intervention by MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and municipal councilors of Europa Verde Gianni Caselli and Lorenzo Pascucci following the request made to the Municipality to review the three-day ban on access to Rotonda Diaz and Lido Mappatella.

“We received a response from the administration which clarified that it had only issued an ordinance that provides for pedestrian transit in that stretch of Lungomare in stop and go mode. That is, with a block on pedestrian transit limited to the moments when the scenes were being recorded.

The ban on access to the free beach of Rotonda Diaz known as Mappatella beach, which greatly penalizes citizens and tourists especially during the week of Ferragosto, was ordered by the Port Authority.

We ask that this provision be immediately revoked and re-discussed in ways that we consider excessive, with the film's production and the representatives of the beach users". But today the new, more restrictive traffic device arrived.

Sorry to disagree. I am and remain convinced that the ban, although apparently penalizing, serves to further relaunch the city of Naples. Showing everyone the most beautiful waterfront in the world should be a source of pride. For a few days, sacrifices can be made to be endured and it would not be the end of the world. Long live Naples and those who praise its deeds! It is the modest opinion of a citizen who loves his city. (Giulio Giliberti)
