“It is necessary to create a social network in Caivano, violence is also hidden especially where there is a lack of services, home care, 'door to door' help for families.
I think of the children and disabled people who live in Parco Verde, where over a tenth of the 40 thousand inhabitants of that territory are crowded together. That place is a trench in the fight between the State and crime, but even before poverty, the numbers of social workers in the Municipality and the services provided to the population must be rebalanced”.
Thus in a note the MEP Chiara Gemma (FdI- Ecr), member of the intergroup of the European Disability Forum, who intervenes on the case of the two cousins aged 12 and 11 who reported having been raped by a group of minors.
And regarding the Government's decision to "reclaim the area" of Caivano and the visit announced by Prime Minister Meloni, Gemma adds: "Safety comes first. The Carabinieri company from Caivano has been working in the area to fight crime for about a year, but repression is not enough; assistance from local institutions and healthcare is needed for the people of Parco Verde".
“The Ministry of Labor and Social Policies has guaranteed a minimum level of social workers with the provision of a financial contribution in favor of the territorial social areas – continues the MEP – based on the number of social workers employed in proportion to the resident population, let's start from this.
Municipality and Region can give a boost to hiring staff. The institutional network can only work if the institutions get closer to the citizens and not the other way around. For example, do we know how many people with disabilities live in the Park?
Are children in need of therapy followed by the social and health network? The truth is that there are no adequate public transport connections to ensure public mobility to and from Parco Verde and out of a staff that includes 60 traffic policemen there are only ten or a little more.
If even these minimum levels of assistance to the citizen are missing, we will not move forward. I will ask for a map, if it exists, of the people with different abilities who populate the Park for subsequent requests for interventions, because no one should be left alone", he concluded.
