The International Turkish-Tatar Kara Ulis Kurultai Festival celebrates its eighth edition this year. This reborn historical event, organized by the Tatar Democratic Union under the high patronage of CNR-UNESCU, will take place on September 2 and 3, 2023, at Torqoise Beach in Venus, in the Romanian region of Mangalia.
The Festival will feature 15 traditional games and sports, 10 of which are listed as Unesco intangible cultural heritage, with 5 Unesco World Sports Cups up for grabs. There will also be food stands and traditional dance and music performances, creative workshops and stands selling typical handicrafts.
There will be 48 countries present. Among the shows we would like to highlight a unique incendiary show in the world, with the participation of numerous artists including Arslanbeck Sultanbekov, defined as the legend of Central Asia, the Kazakhstan Ensemble, the Ottoman Band of Bursa, the Ankara Klubu Ensemble, the Crimean Ghiolizar Ensemble, the Kyrgyz Ensemble and others. The audience will spend enveloping evenings in pyrotechnic shows and with the fires of the Shamans with specific traditional rituals, with free admission for everyone and prizes for children and teenagers.
An important international conference will be held on September 3rd with the topic “The Intangible Heritage of UNESCO: Present and Future”, organized by CNR-UNESCU with the participation of illustrious national and international guests.
Kara Ulis Kurultai, for the President of UDT, is an International Festival of traditional ethnic cultures that will once again give a great contribution to coexistence in cultural diversity, a value to be defended and developed among young people around the world.
