Waste of all kinds, including hazardous waste, caught fire and piled up in an abandoned building site in via Carlo Miranda in Ponticelli.

On site there are some teams of firefighters to put out the flames and a patrol of municipal police to prevent curious people from approaching the area since the air is unbreathable.

Also on fire were some illegal shacks and an abandoned camper. It is the same construction site where on October 25, 2005, 14-year-old Francesco Paolillo died when he fell from a building under construction to save a friend.

For years the boy's family and especially his brother Alessandro have been fighting to give decorum to the area. Some things have been fixed, such as the soccer field, a playground but the construction site continues to be a receptacle for hazardous waste.

The fire, most likely of a malicious nature, has forced the citizens who live in the buildings adjacent to the construction site affected by the fire to stay indoors in these hours.
