Last night there was a fire at the Vela Rossa in Scampia.
The flames quickly engulfed the sixth and seventh floors of the building, which is still inhabited by many people. The firefighters intervened promptly with several fire engines to put out the fire, but they faced several difficulties.
Police officers and carabinieri were also sent to the area to assist with the operations. As the flames spread from one house to another, dozens of people came out into the streets.
At the moment there are no reports of injuries or missing persons, although it will be necessary to wait until the flames are completely extinguished to verify this.
The evacuation of the building was chaotic and difficult, given the presence of many people still inside. The Fire Department arrived quickly with several teams and the help of ladder trucks.
The fire was more difficult to put out than expected due to the large amount of waste in the central staircase. Damage to the tenth and eleventh floors is said to be considerable. There are no reports of injuries at this time.
