“In Citara we have received several complaints from bathers who complain about the payment of 1 euro to use the showers installed near the free beach. For a family we are therefore talking about at least 4 or 5 euros for each shower. We consider the payment for this service frankly unacceptable and we find it absolutely inconsistent with the very principle of the free beach. That is to say, guaranteeing citizens the possibility of being able to use the beach, a common good, for free, with all the essential services attached.
As happened, for example, in Naples where, thanks also to our battles, free public showers with shower heads and accessibility for disabled people have been installed on the Mappatella beach. We ask the municipality to Forio to make the showers here in Citara free, as was the case until a year ago, thus meeting the needs of many families to be able to enjoy a day at the beach without having to shoulder additional costs for services that should be guaranteed to everyone".
These are the words of the deputy of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who collected the protest of the bathers together with the island representative Mariarosaria Urraro.
