After several hours, the fire that broke out this morning on Mount Epomeo in Assisi was put out, thanks also to the intervention of a helicopter and a Canadair. Ischia: the flames had spread over 4 hectares.
The fire, in particular, had developed in the Frassitelli area, generating a large cloud of white smoke visible even from the sea, in a vast area of sparsely inhabited Mediterranean scrub.
No injuries were reported, nor any damage to homes; the origin of the flames remains to be established: in the area there are several agricultural plots from which a fire lit to burn brushwood could have then spread uncontrolled, although the hypothesis of arsonists is not ruled out.
