A group of young Sicilians fled a restaurant in Malta without paying a bill of approximately €100. The restaurant reported the incident and released the footage, but a relative of the young people came forward from Italy to pay for them. Ultimately, this gesture of solidarity transformed the situation.

The boys were filmed by the club's security cameras.

It is another case of Italian tourists, this time young, who during a holiday abroad run away from a restaurant without paying the bill. After the case in Albania, this time we are in Malta and the group of young people - probably Sicilians from Ragusa and Catania - ran away from the Italian restaurant Pasta&Co in Msida.

The owners of the place, Bertrand and Giacomo, told the Corriere di Malta about the episode. Embittered, they reported the incident to the police and showed the images captured by the security cameras.

The five boys reportedly left the restaurant after eating, claiming they wanted to smoke a cigarette, and fled without paying a bill of around 5 euros. The owners said, “Our restaurant is Italian, we love Italy and these people do not represent it,” pointing the finger at the group of Italians.

The owners urged anyone who could provide information to contact the police, even anonymously. However, someone in Italy recognized the group of young people and decided to pay the bill for them.

The complaint from Msida reached Sicily thanks to a relative of one of the boys, who is said to be the father of one of them. The parent offered to pay the 100 euros not paid via bank transfer.

The owners of Pasta & Co. appreciated the gesture and decided to “transform” it. They said they wanted to donate the money to a non-governmental organization that works with disabled people.

After learning this, the father in Italy decided to increase the amount to be compensated and made a transfer of 250 euros directly to the foundation. Bertrand and Giacomo said they were “very happy that this story ended with this unexpected epilogue” and praised the boy’s father for coming forward and apologizing.
