Following threats during protests and online, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been the target of death threats from several social media accounts, just before her visit to Caivano to show solidarity with the young victims of gang rape. This visit is in response to Don Patriciello's invitation.
According to the haters themselves, the threats are based on the government's decision to suspend the provision of citizen's income to several thousand people considered fit for work.
After the subsidy was officially revoked, protests took place mainly in the area of Naples. During these demonstrations, violent chants and death threats were heard, including those addressed to the Prime Minister.
This morning, in response to the announcement of the visit to Caivano, threats resurfaced, this time virtual, still justified by the stop to income. "I would advise you to stay home", wrote a girl from Campania, adding "are you sure you want to come back?".
Another woman, more explicitly, wrote in the comments directly addressing the president: “We hope you stay dead in Caivano”. An artisan workshop, also in the comments, expressed the hope that at least Meloni leaves Caivano “with some bruises”.
The mayor of Naples and the Metropolitan City, Gaetano Manfredi, declared today that tomorrow he will be in Caivano for the visit of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.
During the visit, the mayor will ask Meloni for constant commitment and support for the numerous initiatives that are being carried out not only in Naples, but also in the metropolitan area.
Funding will be requested for services, transportation infrastructure, schools and municipal activities. Manfredi stressed that the Municipality of Caivano is an example of a municipality that has had great administrative difficulties and is in need of personnel.
In Naples, a great investment has been made in social workers and school teachers, but there are still needs to be met. Some municipalities have not done all this and therefore there is a need for great concreteness, normality and commitment from everyone, but it is necessary to be very operational and continuous in the actions that are undertaken.
