This morning a private bus, after having broken through the entrance gate of the Municipality of Pozzuoli of Via Tito Livio, was set on fire by a person who then fled. The mayor of Pozzuoli, Gigi Manzoni, reported the news on social media, saying: "What happened is very serious.
This is a vile and extremely violent attack against the institutions and against the entire city. We await the outcome of the investigations already begun, with full and total confidence in the work of the Police and the Judiciary, but whoever is responsible and whatever the motivation, it must be clear that this administration and this community will never give in to the blackmail of violence”.
And he assures: "We will preserve the safety of our community in all locations, implementing all the actions within our competence, starting with the regular complaint that we will file in the morning, and we will always be, with our heads held high, on the side of legality and transparency. We will not retreat one millimeter in the fight against crime and I am certain that the Puteolani, all the Puteolani, are with us in this battle. For Pozzuoli, together"
The owner of the company that owns the tourist bus that was thrown against the municipal headquarters in via Tito Livio this morning has been reported by agents of the Flying Squad of the NAPLES Police Headquarters and the Pozzuoli police station. The State Police and the NAPLES Prosecutor's Office are accusing the man of the crimes of damage and arson.
Tracked down and questioned by the police, immediately after the events, the owner of the transport company told the police that he was unaware of the attack and that he had been the victim of the theft of the vehicle. However, the video surveillance systems in the area captured the event in detail: the images clearly show the driver reversing and breaking through the gate at the entrance.
Then, just after getting off the bus, he is immortalized while, with flammable liquid contained in a bottle, he starts the fire. According to what has been learned, the Municipality of Pozzuoli has recently called into question, with a new tender, the contract for school transport in the Phlegraean city.
