Pirated consoles and games seized: 33 reported between Naples and the province

Over 37 thousand counterfeit and unsafe items were seized in the week before Ferragosto by the financial police of the Provincial Command of Naples, in the city and in the provincial territory, during checks aimed at repressing the phenomenon especially in tourist/seaside resorts.

Following the 36 interventions, 19 responsible persons were reported to the local Chamber of Commerce for administrative violations while 14 were reported to the competent Judicial Authorities for the crimes of commercial fraud, receiving stolen goods and violations of the legislation on copyright.

The seized items are over 37 thousand, including beauty accessories and costume jewelry, household products, clothing, footwear and video game consoles, the latter with a considerable number of playable games.

In particular, the financial police of the Pozzuoli Company, in 3 separate service operations, between Lago Patria and Pozzuoli, in the area of ​​product safety, seized a total of over 20.000 products including costume jewelry and toys.

At the end of the activity, 3 responsible persons were administratively reported to the local Chamber of Commerce. The Guardia di Finanza of the 2nd Metropolitan Operational Unit of Naples, during various interventions carried out in the historic city center and near the Garibaldi station, against individual companies and improvised activities, seized approximately 8.500 unsafe items, including necklaces, bracelets, rings and piercings. 6 responsible persons were reported to the competent Authorities, 4 criminally and 2 administratively.

The military personnel of the PI Group and the II Group of Naples seized a total of 133 video game consoles containing approximately 29 million “pirated” games.
All operations are part of a broader provincial plan of activities carried out by the Guardia di Finanza of Naples aimed at combating economic-financial offenses connected to the trade of unsafe and/or counterfeit products and pursues a dual objective: to safeguard the legal economy and honest entrepreneurs, who are accompanied by the essential need to protect the health and safety of consumers.
