During an inspection carried out by Francesco Emilio Borrelli at Mappatella Beach, near the free beach of Rotonda Diaz, the bathers approached the deputy protesting against the production of the new film by Paolo Sorrentino.
It is reported that during filming, which took place on August 16, the showers and the shower for disabled people were disconnected, and the hose of the fountain on the beach was also disconnected.
Production then stopped, leaving everything as it was. Only thanks to the intervention of citizens, who took the initiative to repair it, were both the showers and the shower for people with disabilities restored. It was impossible to repair the fountain because the water pipe had been disconnected.
“Once I had collected the testimonies of the bathers, I immediately contacted the Municipal Administration of Naples to report the incident, which has committed to ensuring that the film production takes care of repairing the damage caused and that it contributes to making the public and free services of the beach even better. I believe this is a necessary act of civility.
The fountain, the showers and the shower for people with disabilities have been restored after years of battles and Mappatella Beach was finally equipped with all the necessary services. Now they are taking a step back. The least they can do, also to show respect and care for the city that is hosting the filming, is to repair the damage by putting everything back as it was before.
On August 21st Sorrentino and his production will return to film on that beach, I expect that the shooting will be carried out with the utmost attention, avoiding any damage to the public structures present in order to avoid new disservices to the bathers.
During the inspection, citizens also reported to me the spill from a yacht that was moored a short distance from the beach. I ask that more be done on this front too, by intensifying controls and severely punishing offenders”. Thus Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green-Side Alliance.
