Books, pens and notebooks are some of the many products that can be donated to young students aged 3 to 14 who live in socio-economically difficult contexts in the suburbs of the main Italian cities. Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September in over 75 cities, including Naples, the Banco dei Desideri is back, the annual event promoted by Mission Bambini in collaboration with Feltrinelli Librerie.
Anyone who makes purchases in one of the 112 Feltrinelli bookshops will be able to add various stationery products such as notebooks, pens, colours and erasers; but also game books and story books, atlases and dictionaries; finally, a wide choice of educational and board games, puzzles, constructions and dolls and soft toys for the little ones, all carefully selected by the Feltrinelli booksellers.
The products donated through the Banco dei Desideri will be collected and distributed by Mission Bambini to a selection of primary and secondary schools and childcare centers distributed throughout Italy that welcome less fortunate students. In the four editions of the Banco dei Desideri, over 40 thousand school products were collected for a total value of approximately 160 thousand euros.
“September is the return of the Banco dei Desideri appointment, which sees us engaged throughout Italy to ensure that many students have the opportunity to return to school with everything they need to face the new school year, with the same opportunities as their classmates,” says Sara Modena, General Director of Mission Bambini. “In 112 Feltrinelli bookstores, volunteers and booksellers are available to give advice to anyone who wants to donate a notebook, a book and, consequently, a smile to a young student in difficulty.”
In Naples it will be possible to make purchases and donations at the “Banco dei Desideri” in the sales points of: Via S. Tommaso D'Aquino 70, Via Cappella Vecchia 3, Piazza Garibaldi (Central Station) and at Naples Airport – Capodichino – Terminal 1 Viale Fulco Ruffo di Calabria.
