Protests are growing over the suspension of the Citizen's Income. In Naples, the city most affected, hundreds of people marched, and there were moments of tension with the police and traffic disruptions.

Demonstration also in front of the INPS headquarters in Cosenza, another city where the number of those who must say goodbye to the measure is high. Just last Friday, August 25, the other communications of the end of the Rdc arrived from INPS: out of the total of 33.765 families affected by this second shipment for having reached the limit of seven months' payments in 2023, over 5 thousand (5.275) are in the capital of Naples (after the 21.063 at the end of July).

One thousand in Cosenza. At the regional level, Sicily and Campania are in the lead in terms of the number of families involved, followed by Calabria, Lazio and Puglia. At the end of July, the stop affected over 154 thousand families throughout Italy; another 40.800 messages are expected between September and December, as emerged from the Institute's data, for a total of 229 thousand families.

These are families that do not have minors, disabled people or those over 60 and are not supported by social services. From September 12st, these families will be able to apply for the Support for training and work (Sfl) and, if they meet the requirements, be started on a path of professionalization and job placement during which, for 350 months, they will be able to receive a contribution of XNUMX euros per month.

Also starting from September 1st, the new job platform will debut: it is the Information System for Social and Work Inclusion (Siisl), which aims to bring together supply and demand.

From January 2024, 60, the Inclusion Allowance (ADI) will be available for households containing a minor, or a disabled person, or an over-XNUMX, or a member of social and health care services.

In Naples, during the march in defense of the Citizen's Income, promoted by various acronyms, some demonstrators forced the police cordon, then managing to climb over the wall that leads to the access ramp to the highways, with repercussions on car traffic.

After occupying the ramp for about half an hour, the protesters resumed their march and the situation calmed down again. Dozens of people demonstrated in front of the INPS headquarters in Cosenza. During the initiative, a woman ate cat biscuits, because "I will no longer be able to go shopping, I don't want to work illegally anymore and until someone finds a solution, this is the situation.

I don't want to be supported by the state, I just want a job", he told. “Let's dispel the myth that we are slackers – said Luigi Guglielmelli, also a former recipient of the Income -, I have a degree, two master's degrees, I speak three languages but I can't find a job because I'm 56 years old.

I sent hundreds and hundreds of resumes and six companies told me I was too old. So I ask the government and the president of the Calabria region what they intend to do for their fellow citizens who are in the same situation as me”.
